Position Overview


The Medical Director for Infirmary Services is responsible for the provision and supervision of medical care to all patients requiring infirmary care. The Medical Director will perform daily patient care activities and participate in the coordination and continuity of care within the correctional facility and with outside health care service providers or hospital systems.


Requirements

Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of a residency program (internal medicine, family medicine, or emergency medicine preferred)
Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Delaware
Board certified or board-eligible in respective specialty
Two (2) years of experience in clinical practice preferred.
Current, valid DEA certification
BLS Certification
Must obtain and maintain security clearance throughout duration of employment



Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Provide and manage direct medical care to infirmary patients; maintain medical records documenting all medical services rendered
Adheres to correctional health care standards, institutional regulations, and clinical practice guidelines in the provision of medical care for the facility
Participates in rotating on call schedule
Collaborates with Site Medical Director and mid-level practitioners for continuity of care for inmate patients within the facility's medical service areas
Communicates with community hospitals and medical centers who have participated in the care of patients as they transition between facilities
Complete medical reports and case reviews upon request
Collaborate with administrative staff in developing and implementing quality improvement, safety and infection control programs and initiatives
Participate in Quality Improvement, Infection Control, and other staff or administrative meetings as needed
Works collaboratively with Connections leadership to identify opportunities for care optimization and improvement within the infirmary setting
Intermittent physical activity including walking, climbing, standing, and sitting. Possibility of lifting, stretching and other physical exertion while supporting inmates as needed
